The Panto Project

Some years ago, Luther Hanson and Christine Nicholson decided to create a British panto for City Theatre's holiday production. The tradition stems from a 150 year old history in the UK of staging a pantomime during the holidays. A pantomime is often a fairy tale or common story that's been...um...altered a bit. Always a family friendly show, here are the basic rules:

  • The lead boy, usually a prince, is played by a young woman in shorts and boots.
  • There will be a middle-aged man in a dress playing one of the parts.
  • There will be a "Panto" animal - we have a horse (and a lovely horse he is).
  • It will be filled with local references, pop-music, and jokes (some good, some...well, not so much.)
  • There are baddies that get things thrown at them.
  • Best of all, CANDY.

We are the same folks who have been bringing you the panto for the last six years, just with a new company and new place.

This year we are taking on the classic Cinderella tale, in a new, twisted and glorious production.
